I have a six-year old mini ATX system that I am updating.
I added:
The chip, motherboard and memory work fine with my old graphics card, but when I add the new one, I just get a black screen.
Symptoms:
Disclosure, I lost or threw away my excess cables over the years, so bought this for the new card's power: COMeap 8 Pin Male to Dual 2X 8 Pin (6+2) Male PCI Express Power Adapter Cable https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BJ2BP3X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00
At this point, I'm assuming it's the power, or a bad card, and leaning toward the card, given it says it is happy with the power. The right-angle metal (sorry, don't know the name) plate was a little bent when it arrived, which reinforces the idea that it's broken.
Any help?
I added:
- Motherboard - Gigabyte X570-I Aorus Pro Wi-Fi
- CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
- Memory - DDR4 Corsair Vengence RGB Pro 32 GB
- Graphics card - Gigabyte RX 5600 XT WINDFORCE OC 6G (rev. 2.0)
The chip, motherboard and memory work fine with my old graphics card, but when I add the new one, I just get a black screen.
Symptoms:
- On turning on, CPU fan spins, various LEDs light. Graphics card fans do not move. Screen is black.
- If I don't plug in the 8-pin PCIe power cable, the card has an LED that tells me power cable is diconnected. When I do plug it in, LED goes out, indicating power is normal. Abnormal power is indicated by flashing, which I have not seen.
- If I pull the HDMI cable out, screen notices there is no input connected.
- When I power down, the Graphics card fans twitch.
