I just recently purchased a Gigabyte Rx 580 and I have been very satisfied with it I have owned it for about 2 weeks.

But I am concerned because I have noticed on 2 different occasions that I will be doing something and the screen or most of it will turn like a pixelated green color for about a split second and then go away.

It did it once while playing a game and once while just browsing the internet. I don't know if it's a driver issue or a faulty graphics card? I am very observant of things and I know for a fact I have never had a problem like this with previous video cards.

All drivers are up to date just looking for any insight from somebody who may have had similar problems, or know for sure that this is a sign of a faulty card and if I should get it replaced. Thanks

System Specs:
i5 6600k
Gigabyte Rx 580
Asus A170 Motherboard
16 gigs ddr 4 ram
Coolermaster 750 watt Psu

If you have warranty for this card, I would wait for more obvious signs of card failure. Since drivers are quite new (even though 580 is just speed-up 480) driver issue could not be ruled out, but this kind of problems are usually caused by hardware.

Yea I don't want to overreact and quickly return it. But sadly the reason why I'm concerned is I purchased it from amazon and my 30 day window to return it no questions asked is shrinking.

There seems to be no correlation with the the temps. After it happened the first time while playing a game I stress tested the cpu for 1 hour with furmark, the temps bounced between 67-72 degrees but it did not happen again during this time. But the second time I was not not doing anything remotely stressful on the gpu just surfing the net and it happened again.

The only similar thing I notice is it seems like it happens when I'm flipping between windows like when I was surfing the net I was clicking between tabs and when i click to a certain tab the screen went green for a second, it was green lines across the screen about 1/3 of the way down the screen. It also did the same thing when i was playing a game I alt+tab out of the game to switch my background music and when I went back into the game the screen was completely green all pixelated looking for about 2 seconds.

Just an update on this topic, I was finally able to get a picture of what it is doing.

This is what it does randomly seems like i can go for days before it happens. But stuff that seems to set if off is when I am switching between windows I have open. And it always does it in chrome I have never notice it happen with anything else. And it never happens in games.

Might something software specific then. IE and Edge were 'adding' some black horizontal lines when I was browsing Tom's forum that could certainly look like hardware failure. Yet since I moved to Firefox I haven't seen them. So it's quite possible Chrome is playing tricks on you.

"DRagor" I would have to say that I think your correct. I've stress tested the gpu with furmark for over an hour at 100% load and no artifacts or instabilities. Then I even took it one step further and Crypto mined with it for just over a week solid 24/7 100% the whole time, and still absolutely no problems. Sure does scare the hell out of me when it happens, I guess I will try firefox for awhile and see if it happens again. Thanks

Hello, I happen to have the same GPU (with ryzen 5) and I happen to have the same artifacts as well, however as I use this rig for gaming, I experience no issues whatsoever, I see this from time to time on opera, I am working from home and online hence I have to open excessive amounts of tabs and windows on opera, and I don't experience at anywhere else (I am right now playing Witcher 3 with over 60 hours, Prey, Batman Arkham Knight all in ultra settings) therefore I am inclined to believe that this is strictly a software issue originating from the browsers.
