Gigabyte System Recommendation

Hello All,

I am interested in building a new system based on Gigabyte Motherboard GA-P35C-DS3R or GA-P35-DQ6. I am considering DS3R over DQ6 primarily due to flexibility on types of RAM (DDR2 or DDR3) it can take. The system will primarliy be used for Photo Editing, DVD Authoring, etc. (No Gaming at all) Operating system will be Windows Vista Ultimate (32 Bit). Any suggestion on migrating to 64 bit version?

In this regard, I will appreciate your input on the following to build a Ultra High Performance System.
Processor : Considering Intel® Core™2 Extreme processor QX6850 however suggestion in this regard will be highly appreciated
RAM : DDR2 or DDR3 and then the make Corsair, Mushkin or do you think there are better manufacturers?
Video Adapter (PCI express) : Prefernace is towards ATI
Hard Disk : WD Caviar SE16 (Is it advisable to go for RAID (stripping) to get performance?)
Sound Card : Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic
Casing
PowerSupply

Your suggestions and comments in this regard will be highly appreciated.

hard drive .no! i had raid no big diff. and its more risky to have it crash on you.

vc. ati or nvidia are good

32-64 not really

qx6850 is fine

i just read (no gaming at all) all work and no play is not good

power sup. at least 600w and up

a good monitor will be important

Thanks sirkillalot on your advice and in particular the sound card and HD.

However, I will appreciate more specific response on the other items like memory, which ATI, make / model of power supply.

then i need more deatails from you as to how much money you want to spend ??? (per item about)
theres a million parts out there and like everything else you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
for Photo Editing is it pro or home use
Ultra High Performance System. why??? If you play games you need a high end machine but for PE etc a midd range is fine.
My system is great for games (see below)but its also very good for PE, get that.

I like quiet systems and able to OC hence the system. By the time DDR3 is common, you'll be changing your board, so forget it! If you have loads of money, get the Leadtek Lethian for a crazy system.
