Hey there guys,
1.5 year ago (30/6/2015) I went to a local Pc hardware store and bought a Gigabyte R9 280 Windforce 3GB OC.

Everything was fine until recently (3 months ago) I noticed that one of the three fans had fallen out of place. At first I would just "push" it back (after I set the RPM to 0) and then it would function again properly until the next time it fall out. So after a couple of days I decided to go to the store from which I got it in the first place and ask them to send it back for a repair (that happened at 20/9/2016).

2.5 months later and after I pushed them a bit, they finally told me that, because that GPU model is discontinued, they will have to replace it with an RX 470 G1 Gaming 4GB (which I'm totally fine with as it is a bit better than my previous card).

My question to anyone who has experience with Gigabyte warranty service is: What are the odds for this "new" card to be just another used card which they "fixed" and sent just as a replacement card.

I'm asking 'cause I still didn't get the card and I don't know what should I expect and I just don't want to get it and be disappointed.

Thanks to all of you in advance. Have a good day. (and excuse me for any wrong use of English 😛 )

Gigabyte warranties are based off the serial number. If enough time goes by with it sitting on the shelf it's possible for the warranty to expire before it can be sold. As far as the RX 470 goes there is a very good chance it will be a refurbished/reconditioned card. Most warranty replacements are regardless of company.
