I want to get my RAM to run at 3000Mhz (as advertised on the box) but the board is limiting the frequency to 2144MHz. Would a newer bios version solve this?

Also the latest bios (F20) description says "Support next generation CPU
* This BIOS prohibits updating to earlier version BIOS".

Does this mean Skylake Intel processors or something newer?

Any answers are greatly appreciated.

UPDATE
Enabled XMP and set RAM to 3000MHz and system failed to boot with this setting. Would I then assume the mobo cannot take 3000MHz or is the bios (version F3) limiting the OC abilities?
