I'll be honest and say that I'm at my wit's end with this build. I have put far too much money and time and stress into making this thing work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I updated a non-working build that was having some trouble early in 2018. System specs are as follows:

CPU: Intel i5-6500
GPU: Gigabyte Xtreme Gaming 1060 6GB
RAM: 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LED DDR4 2400MHz (CMU16GX4M2A2400C16)
MOBO: Gigabyte Z170 Gaming 7
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 P2, 80+ PLATINUM 750W
SSD: Kingston A400 SSD 240GB SATA 3 2.5"
OS: Windows 10 Home

I narrowed down the original build (in 2017) problems to what I believe was a GPU issue. I completely replaced every single item in the case except for the case itself and the SSD, a Kingston Digital 120GB SSDNow UV400. The computer worked for a few months, then started randomly shutting down in the middle of low-intensity games (League of Legends, for instance). I went back to the build and put in the components you see now, except that the drive was a Seagate 3TB BarraCuda SATA 6Gb/s. The computer ran for a few days and then stopped working. It would get hung up in the Windows loading screen for several minutes, then attempt to troubleshoot. It could troubleshoot for several hours, then give up. I tried to reinstall Windows and reset the drive. Windows reinstalled (and took FOREVER), but after booting up the computer, which was horribly slow (nearly 30 seconds to launch Google Chrome), installations began to throw faulty drive errors.

So I assumed the issue was with the drive. I put in the new A400 SSD and reinstalled Windows. The computer booted perfectly, installed a couple games, and sat idle for a couple hours. I powered the machine down and booted it back up today. Well, I tried to. The computer will not boot. It powered on, ran for a few seconds, then rebooted. The second attempt had the computer sit, with no display but fans running, for several minutes. I gave up and restarted it. Didn't work. The motherboard is throwing an error code 8, which isn't listed anywhere I can find it. I tried to reset CMOS with the memory out, to no avail. The PSU has been tested (with one of these: http://) and did not come back with any errors. PLEASE help.

Thanks!

Ko888: I'm going to look into the revision and getting what you recommended.

Calvin7: That shouldn't matter, I don't think. It's a z170 motherboard. And regardless, the 2400 MHz would just be down locked to 2133.
