[SOLVED] Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Elite heatsink cover clearance with top mounted AIO in Meshify C

Hi,



I'm planning to top-mount a 240mm AIO (Cooler Master ML240L RGB) in a Fractal Design Meshify C case, however I'm not sure if it would fit with a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Elite motherboard.

My main concern is that the case can only accomodate 240mm top mounted AIOs if the motherboard components do not exceed 40mm in height, and the plastic heatshield cover on the top part of the motherboard seems pretty high in height. The RAM I'm getting is a Corsair Vengeance LPX which is pretty low-profile with a height of 34-35 mm, so that wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, I cannot front-mount the AIO as my graphics card is too long.

Can anyone with this motherboard speak for the clearance for a top-mounted 240mm AIO in the Meshify C case?

Not 100% sure.

Looking at the Elite, nothing that is going to get in the way of a Rad is noticeable taller than the IO shield itself, which is pretty standard somewhere between 40-45mm.

So, I'd be inclined to agree with the person over on LTT that already responded to you that it should fit...

However, the two builds I can find utilizing that board + case have the Rad mounted up front.... which isn't a great sign.

The issue with front-mounting it is that my graphics card is 298 mm in length, so I can't fit the radiator+fan in there, as the case only allows for 315 mm graphics cards max and a fan without a radiator.

I found a picture (below link) that shows that the plastic cover component above the CPU heatsink is slanted, so it should be somewhat lower than the leftmost part of the plastic cover which seems to be in line with the IO shield in height.

From pictures, like I mentioned above.... I would think it should fit just fine.
I'm just going from the fact that I can find two builds using that board + case, and they both mounted the Rad up front. Those two people may have simply opted to do so, opposed to being forced to due to compatibility.... but I can't say with any certainty.

One last (maybe stupid) question: will the motherboard standoffs affect the height of the motherboard and consequently the the height of the heatsink cover when measured against the cooler up top?

No. Measurements etc are factored in already. You couldn't state (for example) 160mm cooler clearance, if the standoff height etc was variable.

While standoffs have been taller/shorter in various cases & at various times, all measurements are with a motherboard in place (as a motherboard has to fit the IO cutout on the rear, etc.

If a case states clearance for "X", there's no variable re: standoffs/PCB thickness or anything else.
