I'm going to be building a new pc with the Gigabyte Z690 aorus pro and it has 4 slots for nvme ssds and I was planning on putting two in but being a fairly non tech savy person I just learned that pcie lanes exist and I'm a little confused on it.
If I put two ssds in will they take up lanes from the graphics card or does the graphics card slot have its own lanes?
and I'll be using an i7 12700k

CPU:
1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2260/2280/22110 PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 SSD support) (M2A_CPU)

Chipset:
1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2260/2280/22110 SATA and PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 SSD support) (M2C_SB)
2 x M.2 connectors (Socket 3, M key, type 2260/2280/22110 PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 SSD support) (M2P_SB/M2Q_SB)
6 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors

Support for RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 10
* Refer to "2-8 Internal Connectors," for the installation notices for the M.2 and SATA connectors.

Intel® Optane™ Memory Ready
* System acceleration with Intel® Optane™ Memory can only be enabled on the M.2 connectors supported by the Chipset.

Looking through your chosen motherboard's manual;

The M2C_SB connector shares bandwidth with the SATA3 2, 3 connector.
Meaning with the third M.2 slot, you loose functionality on SATA ports 2 and 3. No lanes are hampered in the process.

so it sounds like using the top m2 slot and my gpu slot will use the 20 lanes from my cpu, and the other 3 m2 slots will not affect those lanes at all?
