Hey All,

I've just purchased Gigabyte Z690 Elite DDR4, i want to install my old Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB, on to this, but it wont see it in Bios or start up with it. Is because its to old or what can i do ? 🙁

These are the m2 specs from the motherboard:

CPU:- 1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2260/2280/22110 PCIe 4.0 x4/x2SSD support) (M2A_CPU)?
Chipset:- 1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2260/2280/22110 SATA and PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 SSD support)(M2M_SB)-
2 x M.2 connectors (Socket 3, M key, type 2260/2280/22110 PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 SSD support) (M2Q_SB/M2P_SB)-
6 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors

Best regards
Jeff

Solution
Try this: download a linux live distro (I prefer Linux Mint Mate) and create a bootable usb from the iso image. Try booting from that and see if the m.2 is fully visible. If so, use gparted to check to make sure the m.2 is identified as a gpt partition device. If its shown as MBR you'll probably need to perform an mbrtogpt conversion (which may not work) or simply use gparted to delete all the existing partitions, relabel the m.2 and then reinstall windows.
