Question Gigabyte Z77 D3H Bios keeps corrupting

I have recently built a pc using a second hand Gigabyte Z77 D3H board. However quite often at startup a message says the bios is corrupted and is then restored from the backup bios.

I have not yet tried updating the bios with the latest version, but am concerned this might be a fault with the board since this happens regularly. Surely once the bios has been restored from the backup bios this problem should not happen again? Does it mean the main bios chip is faulty?

May I suggest replacing the CMOS battery. In some motherboards, a dead battery will result in a BIOS checksum error and force it to load the backup BIOS. However, I cannot verify if this is applicable in your case.
