Basically I have bought the board in the title and a I7-4790k, Upon building the system I found out the motherboard doesn't support the CPU until revision F5, But to update the board I need a processor that it does support at revision 1.0 and am now looking for suggestions on a cheap sockey 1150 Celeron to do the updates but unfortunately the CPU support page for the board doesn't mention which processors it supports at rev 1 only later revs from what I can see, If anyone can offer help or Insight on this problem for me I would be extremely grateful.

What is your board's BIOS version?

Yeah installed the whole system and it powers on and then off in an infinite loop, looked at other people with the same problem on these forums and that seems to be the problem bios needs an update.

RMAing the board will only mean either a replacement and I still sit in the wrong problem or spending more on a different board, The CPU I'm looking at that is definately compatible with is only £33 so it's not that expensive.

I would LOVE to know how you worked that out! I have a ga-z97p-d3 rev 1.1 board at the moment that is not even doing POST, no beeps, nothing, but does not go into a reboot cycle. I have an Intel i5 4690k, so I need to know if the BIOS version installed is at least f5...

Also have Corsair vengeance DDR3 2 x 8 GB @ 2400MHz in the correct pair of slots.
Case is a Vaporise v9.
I have removed everything else except and external USB DVD r/w that contains the OS disk, and an internal SATA 1TB HDD.

SN of the board is SN151440010473, so I guess the number you are after is 1514? Judging by the digits of the person you were responding to, and assuming (yikes!) that the numbers go up... I should be on at least f5 if not higher?

Hi.
The CPU and both case fans, and the PSU fan all spin.
There is no case speaker - probably explains the lack of beeps - could try a headset...

The thing looks like it's going to do something - we get a mouse pointer on the screen that can be moved with the mouse. It appears for about 1 second, maybe 1.5, then the screen just goes black. Also, on startup and after the screen goes black, there is definitely a video signal since the monitor doesn't complain that there is no singall...

We've tried multiple restarts to press every single key on the keyboard (del, BS, space, enter, the F keys...) on the off-chance that the displays & TVs we have tried don't handle the HDMI right and picture is "somewhere else" off-screen. That doesn't help. We have also tried to leave it alone, with the win7 disk in the DVD drive, but it doesn't start installing windows, etc.

OK - false alarm mostly down to muppetry... The onboard is only HDMI, and it turns out that the boy (my son) didn't have anything other than a couple of TVs to try, which displayed the behaviour outlined above. Today, his BenQ RL2455HM arrived, which has HDMI. and everything seems to be working perfectly.

At least sending back the new mobs that is arriving tomorrow will be easy - no need to even open the packaging!

So - if anyone else is having this weird behaviour with this card, get a proper HDMI monitor and don't rely on an HDMI TV. I'll forgive the boy - he's only 13 and this is his first build... :)

Thanks for all the help!
