Hi,

I have an opportunity to buy a Gigabyte Z97P-D3 with i7 4790 and 8 GB of DDR3, new for EUR 340. As the processor alone (purchased separately) in my country is about EUR 300, this seems like an awesome deal.

I need the computer for data analytics/programming and for gaming (casual gaming but would like to play some AAA titles on high settings too). The computer should be sufficiently good for these tasks for the next 5 years, as I anticipate I will have no money in between for upgrades (maybe minor ones such as extra RAM).

My questions are the following:

Are the processor and the mobo a good fit?
I have an R9 380 4GB, would it be a good match for the mobo?
Do I need a cooler for this set-up? It seems the upgrade kit comes with no cooler whatsoever.
Would a 500W PSU be sufficient? PCpartpicker says it needs cca 380W.

The configuration would be as follows:

I already own the monitor, the disks and GPU and assume I will be replacing the case/PSU with something sufficient. I do not know which RAM I would be getting. If I get a single stick, I will buy a 2x4 GB instead.

Thanks!

Motherboard + cpu are a good fit.
r9 380 is a good card and will work just fine with that motherboard.
Yes you would need a cooler. I have the Evo 212 which works great. Although there are alot out there which would also be fine.
500w psu will be fine for that hardware.

edit: Are you sure there is no cooler? Haswell cores come with one in the box.
