Any apps out there the utilize more than dual core atm? Anything that this useless core/display race is used for? Wouldn't improvements to battery life be more beneficial?

The extra cores serve the very important purposes of improving benchmark results and allowing one to brag about the new phone.

Oh yeah this phone is available in India. But I am not a big fan of 8-core CPU smartphone. But the swivel cam looks interesting just like Oppo N1.

I am impressed by the 16 GB ram on the phone that uses a 32-bit processor. Its 1 GB Ram, and 16 GB storage.

Well,
As I know both 8 cores don't operate at one time. 4 cores are clocked at higher freq and the other 4 cores are clocked low freq. At low freq it consumes about 1/10 power than it consumes at high freq. So at this point apps can't use 8 cores at one time. Also as I know there's a hidden 9th core -can't be used by apps or android- which decides which core groups is suitable at that point. So portable devices like this can have more battery life than the ones that have only 4 cores running at high freq.
