I have a Dell Precision T1500 running Windows 7 - nothing fancy. Currently I have 2 X 2GB of DR3 1333 with timings 9-9-9-24. I have 2 open slots, and I'm looking to upgrade a bit. I use it for gaming (cpu intensive, low graphics), video editing, and general use. Keeping costs low is a priority. My previous computer, used for the same tasks, had 8GB, which was more than I needed.
A local guy is selling 2 X 4GB of DDR3 1333 with timings 7-7-7-24 for a great price, and I've all but decided to buy it. Given what I use this computer for, would I be better off using all 12GB even though the timings are different, or would I be better off only using the 8GB of new RAM?
