Giving away my HalfLife 2 how would this work ?

With steam and all, would i have to uninstall it and unregister with
steam so my Newphew could have the game and play it on his PC ?

And after that could he give it back to me if he uninstalls it ect ??

You don't need to uninstall it. Just give him your Steam user name and
password. When he installs the game, he uses your Steam account (which is
tied to your CD key) to activate it. You can have it installed on multiple
computers, but only one can play at a time. Unless, of course, you have
some reason that you can't give him your user name and password. I can't
think of any reason, but I'm sure some anti-Steam zealot(s) will inform us.
Also, if you have all the updates for HL2, you can still play after you've
given him the CDs, just not at the same time as him.
