Glitched screen on galaxy s4

my friend has a galaxy S4 and he's telling me that his screen has a glitch on start up and then it blacks out. hes thinking about buying a new one but i think its best if he gets it repaired. and it happened just yesterday after practice. i don't know if it was physical force or other circumstances.

Repairing an S4 is a bit useless since you can get a fully working replacement for about $100.
