A week ago I placed an order for a FOP38 from a company in Australia.

Today I received an email from the company saying the shipment has been delayed because of problems with the clips on these hs/fans.

Global Win told them not to sell anymore because there has been a problem with the clips breaking.

Has anyone had problems with clips breaking?

I have used one, and the only problem I had was when I tried to install it the normal way, by pressing down on the hook on the clip to hook it to the Socket base, the lever that hooks came halfway undone. I was using my finger as I always have with other socket style heatsinks to install the clip. After it came undone I had to remove it since the pressure was not equal across the clip now, painful on the fingers, and put the clip back in place and reinstall. I now use the FOP38 on my Duron with a smaller fan, the DELTA fan is way too loud for me, but I use a small flat blade screwdriver to put pressure on the end of the clip to avoid causing the hook to come undone from the clip. Plus, the screwdriver causes me no pain at all. The clip is very strong, and requires alot of pressure to install it, more than any other heatsink I have used yet, as it will almost make your finger bleed if you install it the normal way with your fingers and are not very careful.

You have to be very careful mounting it. I hope they redesigned the amount of tension on the spring A friend of mine had the problem with the clip breaking. The amount of pressure it takes to get it to latch seems like overkill. I would also recomend hand lapping the heat sink also. It was very rough.
