With the political situation in the US there's no chance China would sign off on this so it would likely die on the vine like Intel buying Tower did. It would be an interesting shift for the market, but if the end goal is being able to compete with advanced nodes perhaps some sort of co-production deal with Rapidus similar to what Intel and Micron had would be a better angle.
