Gmod not connecting to multiplayer server

I bought gmod if steam the other day and when I went to go to a multiplayer server it downloaded stuff of the workshop (which I'm presuming is normal) then when getting info it got stuck there I'm on Windows 10 if that makes a difference and I've no other source game installed ( but I have orange box on steam)

When I first got gmod I had the same problem. I did not own any source games and whenever I tried to join a server with a map that has counter strike source content I would get an error message saying I couldn't connect. I think it is because you are missing most the components to play that map. You can either buy counter strike source or you can download the game content by following this video (I used this video and it worked for me and all of my friends)
