Hi
I'm currently replacing parts from my PC, since some has failed. I'm currently in a monery shortage. And currently I can only afford using HDD and not HDD+SSD combo as I had wished.

But if I install OS on my HDD now, and later when I can afford it, would I be able to clone the OS from my HDD to my SSD. And use my HDD as a storage, so I will get the HDD+SSD combo?

Thanks

Solution
Yes you can, with a couple of caveats.

A. Size of the new SSD
B. Size of the total used space on the C drive.

A must be larger than B (mostly).

Yes, you can do that. I would make sure to get a Samsung SSD, as they have a piece of software that makes migrating the OS from HDD to SSD a breeze(a couple of clicks through a wizard. Just make sure that teh you have less data on the C: drive than the capacity of the SSD.
If you are doing a new install, make sure you install 10 in uefi mode.(disable CSM and enable secure boot in the BIOS).

what happens if you don't install 10?

Aren't you getting a new HDD? If you are meaning to install an older windows, don't. W10 is an excellent OS and is mandatory if you want to play any of teh DX12 games coming out.

Then you use whatever other OS you purchased.
