Hey guys- I have an 2000+ palomino on a soyo k7v chipset. I've decided not to unlock the multiplier, as I would not gain much additional headroom- therefore, I've been attempting to overclock directly to 166fsb. However, when I set the fsb to 166 in the bios, the system simply will not post. Any suggestions on how I might be able to get it to post with an fsb of 166? Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it!
(By the way, my temps are very low, and the highest I've gotten the fsb to is about 155- although I can't enter windows with it this high. Thanks again!)

The cpu probably needs more voltage.

So you think its voltage- I thought that too, and I upped it slightly, by .25 I think... should I give it more juice then that and see what happens?

Don't know 'till you try 😀

12.5*166=2075 MHz... I highly doubt your CPU will ever reach that.

Maybe if you try an 1.85V VCore if you got enough cooling... but I think you will never reach it unless you lower the multiplier.

Ok so how much voltage do I have to up it to reach a 1.85v core? The highest I tried was +.10, and it wouldn't post... but sounds like I need to give it a little more? By the way I know this is extremely unlikely, but you never know!

Well the default is 1.75V, so 0.1 will giev you 1.85V. If you mobo allows you, you can try higher but you need good cooling for that.
