Posted a while back about OC'ing my system but won't work. All I get is the black screen on my monitor with the cursor blinking endlessly on the top left corner of the screen

Gone to 945Mhz and will get past the POST but that's it. I heard that the 900AthlonB CPU is a good OC'er. Did the pencil thing on the L1 bridges but nothing. Is there a certain type of pencil? Turned down my memory to CAS 3 @ 100 'cause the board a DFI AK 74-EC has a FSB of 100x2. Thought maybe it couldn't deal with CAS2 @133.

CPU is cooled by a Tt Twin Orb. Checked my CPU temp w/MBM @47C and it's within range. Ambient is 36C to 39C depending on whether I have the side cover on or not. At present it's OFF. PSU is 300 (noname) but never had a problem w/it.

Got a Sunoi 80mm under the HDDs and also on top of the CDROM and my HP burner blasting directly on the PSU. Got the same FAN on the exhaust port so cooling is definitely not a problem. I also made sure of the direction of all fans. Damn thing is loud but that doesn't bother me 'cause I've got the headset on.

Here's my box in case I left anything out.
900 Athlon B Socket 462 cooled by Tt Super Mini Twin Orb HSF on a DFI AK-74 EC w/ 200FSB.

512MB PC133 UNIQUE stick (no errors) checked it with memtest86.

300 PSU noname but like I said no problems. Done multitasking never hung. Just took a bit longer to finish the work. Multi-tasking I mean, printing, surfing, data-processing @ any one time.

1xSeagate 20GB @5400 UDMA (on)
1xSeagate 17GB @5400 UDMA (on)
HP burner
CD 48x

GeForce2 MX400 64MB SDRAM not Oc'd
w/ OEM HSF

2x 10/100 NICs on 2nd and 3rd PCI slots. Left room for the GPU's HSF. Both check out ok. I use either one for my ADSL hookup.

Any ideas?

as far as I know that motherboard has the chipset VIA KT133 (not the KT133A) and it isn't a good overclocker.

Do you have any picture of the pencil work? The most common mistakes are: Insufficient graphite to join the bridges or one pair of bridges joined with the next pair.
About the pencil type it should be B2 (the one with the highest content of graphite)

Appreciate the response CMRvet.

After checking my MOBO, you're right. It is the KT-133 w/o the A.

Unfortunately I don't have a pic but I did it with a 0.5mm refillable pencil. Maybe that's the reason. The lines are clean. No overlapping.

Even if I do manage to unlock the CPU, you're saying I'll have problems with the Northbridge? I'll try it a step at a time to see how far I get.

Much Thanks.

No necessarily, you could overclock the CPU just changing the multiplier and keeping the FSB at 100 MHz
