Going for Intel i5 4th gen proc but what should i go with?

Hi. I was thinking about getting the Intel Core i5-4440 but I'm quite not sure of the mobo that i should go with. This is for gaming though, trying to get a new hobby. I'm looking at ASUS H87I-PLUS, P8Z77-V LK and VANGUARD B85. Would it really matter if I'd go with a 3rd gen mobo than a 4th gen?

The B85 mobo is 8th gen and would work excellent with the i5-4440 as it is a locked processor and cannot be overclocked. If using an 4th gen Haswell processor then you should go with the 8th gen board . Just make sure it has the 1150 socket for the 4th gen Haswells.

personally i would go with ASRock Z87M Extreme4 Motherboard or MSI Z87-G43 Motherboard both are value for money

I wouldn't suggest Z87M Extreme4. It's using very low quality, unreliable D-PAK mosfets.

Since you are getting a non-K cpu you don't particularly need a Z87 board unless you want lots of SATA ports and planning to run a SLI setup. Then Gigabyte H87-D3H would do to the trick.

Yes, somehow ASRock manages to put those cheap d-paks into some of their mid-range boards every now and then. Z77 Extreme4 had d-paks for example. Now z87 Extreme3 and z87M Extreme4 has those... Z87 Extreme4 is good though with low rds(on) mosfets. But you never know without removing the heatsink. And I have a strong feeling that reviewers told to not remove heatsinks.
