Hi,
New member here.
A few years ago, I had a desktop PC (HP Pavilion) that screeched to a halt one day. I bought a replacement PC, thinking that at some point, if I got the time, I'd like to have a go at fixing the Pavilion (I liked it). I should probably mention at this point that I've never done anything like fixing a computer before; I think I might have installed some RAM in a previous system, but even that is a hazy memory. But I figure there's a first time for everything, and I've decided that this year I will fix that PC. I'm hoping it's just a problem with the video card...
I plugged the monitor into the back of the video card, but I just get the message that "a cable is unplugged". So I thought that the next step could be to connect the monitor to the on-board graphics.
But before I do that, I thought I'd ask here.... It's my understanding that when switching the display from the video card to the on-board graphic, first it's important to go into Windows and disable the graphics drivers. For obvious reasons, I can't do that. Is that going to be a problem? Is there a way around it?
Thanks in advance.
