going from windows 7 to windows 8.1

how would I go about this. im gnna download the iso from microsofts site since its free.

Just get the free windows 10 upgrade through their assistive technologies link since the promotion has ended... Windows 8 is terrible, either stick with 7 for now or go to 10.

8.1 fixed most of the bad stuff from 8.
It's not 'terrible'.

No.
It will require the license key. That is the part that actually costs money.
