I have C2D E4500 and im goin to get the Q9400 , just wanna ask if this psu
" AOpen 500w " is safe to use ?

RAM: 4GB
Graphic Card: HD6850 1GB

+New CPU: CPU: Intel® Core™2 Quad Q9400 2.66 GHz 1333 MHz 6 MB

Going by Neweggs PSU calculator, you need 447 W, assuming 1 optical drive and 1 hard drive. I would round up and buy a minimum of a 500W PSU. Here's a couple of recommendations for a good, but budget PSU:

Which model, specifically of PSU do you have. I was just at the AOpen site, and there are a couple of 500W PSUs that have split rails and don't even get 20 Watts on either 12V rail. This would make it unsuitable for use with the 6850. So, specifics are important here.

Can you calculate the minimum wattage that this new build need !

Im running ( HD 6850 + C2D E400 + 4GB Ram ) with no problems atm with my 500w psu
