Going to mod my 4850, will these parts work?

Play time is over.

Will all these work well?

-VisionTek 4850 (stock cooler, already own it)
-AC5 (already have some)
-Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev. 2 (2nd revision, has the voltage regulator coolers) - http://www.coolerguys.com/840556081043.html
-Arctic Cooling 120mm fan - http://www.coolerguys.com/840556081081.html
-Zalman Fan Mate 2 (I will keep it inside the case) - http://www.coolerguys.com/840556016564.html
-2 packs of thermal pads, not sure how well the ones included with the cooler work - http://www.coolerguys.com/840556020769.html

If I order all this stuff, should that do the trick? Oh, and trying these guys over the 'Egg, ordered my Lian-Li from them and they were good.

Uhm... You could also just pump the FAN to 40% on IDLE and 80-90% on Full Load... That should keep your 4850 below 70ºc and save you some bucks AND risks.

Now, putting AS5 paste on it could be a smart move too.

Esop!

Not happy with the stock cooler. With the fan at 40% (as loud as I stand for 2D), running at 60C, and in-game, the thing is up at 85-100C and I don't like that at all.

With these parts, the system will be virtually silent (the computer less the video card is basically inaudible), and this would keep it that way.

The $60 or so is immaterial, and I think its fun.

I put a Zalman on my old 6600GT and it went from a leafblower to something that was not even warm to the touch, inaudible, and wanted to be OCed.

I have the fan running at 50% and cant hear it past my antec 900 case fans which are pretty quite. They run about 51 degrees idle and up to 63 full load. Check out riva tuner I just downloaded the new drivers which were released yesterday that supports HD4850 and HD4870 cards. Running both HD4850 at 700 and 1100 memory

I have played with everything, and for my needs, the stock cooler will just not work. I have the latest RivaTuner and it still does not give me the noise or cooling I want.

For my case and room, the stock fan needs to be at 35% of lower to make me happy, and that means its running VERY hot.

I get your same temps with the thing at 50%, but again, not happy with the noise.

And compared to my other hobbies, spending $60 to mod the card is nothing. Did you know the front replacement rotor for my bike is $250? Neither did I until I needed it :-(

Thanks for the link.

That was my inspiration, I was wanting to confirm the parts I am ready to buy should work well. Is the fan good, will the fan controller work with it, etc.

Would it hurt to get a 1200RPM fan and the Zalman fan controller? That way I can have it running stupid low if I want to, or if need be, I can have it going at 1200 RPM's?

Or, would there be any difference between the 800 and 1200RPM fan (as in, the heat pipes can only shed so much heat, so no reason to run a fan that is faster than the heat is!)

I figure that I might be able to run the card fully-passive, but might need just a little puff of air to cool it a bit.

Hell, if I is super-cool, I will just OC the thing.

Ok, sounds fair. If the stock doesn't cut it, then go for it.

I'd also add that a Zalman VF900 (or 1K) should do the trick also. I think they go by cheaper, right? Here on Chile we have a massive amount of DuOrbs and Zalmans, so i don't know any other brand/model from up close, lol.

Anyway, don't forget the ArticSilver5 dude! That's like 3ºc-5ºc less!

Good luck with your mod =D

Esop!

EDIT: Spelling

Thanks!

Have a nice post going in one of the 'quiet' cooling forums, and got a lot of advice.

Should be fun.

For the record, above 25% fan, the card is the loudest thing in my system.
