Hello guys, today I have this question:
Can anyone recommend (out of first hand experience) a 1440p monitor that can finely run 1080p fullscreen without any real issues? I'm asking this becouse i want to buy a 27" 1440p monitor now, but I only have an older 1060 6gb GPU.I want to buy a good monitor now becouse atm I have a 23" 60hz 8ms one, and in the next year I'll upgrade my graphics card to something that will run 1440p fine. SO I'm buying that monitor now becouse If I bought an 1080p now, I'd have to buy another monitor for when I will upgrade my gpu, if you get me.
So I have a 1060 6gb running with an i7 8700k, and I would like to play competitive games such as, overwatch, csgo and apex at respectable fps. That's why I need a monitor thats 1440p but can do fullscreen 1080p w/o a problem. I've heard that there are monitors that can't do this, and others that can. That's why I'm asking for firsthand experience.
What I want in the monitor:
1440p, 144hz, 1-4ms delay, IPS panel, good reviews and respectable brand, and one that you know can run 1080p with games to get higher fps with my old GPU.
Thanks!

4k monitors can SOMEWHAT do this, because 4k is a multiple of 1080p. 1440p monitors cannot do this, and look right, because no matter what there is never going to be a scaling multiple that is "right".

It's no different than trying to run 1024x768 resolutions on a 1080p monitor. It just will not look correct no matter what you do. unless you are willing to use a mode where the whole screen is not used.
