Hey, I've been looking for a good lcd that is good (really good) for gaming. Most of the time that I am on my computer I will be playing a game so I dont want to have to worry about ghosting on my monitor.

Although I would like to find a non widescreen 19 inch I found this monitor and was wondering if I could any feedback on it.

Unfortunately you can't find many good 19 inch 4:3 monitors but I did find one on newegg looked pretty good.

Tell me what you guys think or please inform me on a good 19 inch gaming monitor that I should get 😀

Thanks.

Hoag21,a few questions first:
- Do you have a specific price range? I see the LG W1952TQ-TF is significantly cheaper then the 1942P.
- What kind of graphics card do you currently have? If you're using one of the newer graphics cards, like the GTS 8800/8900, you may want to consider 1600x1200 19 inch or bigger...

Any-who, those are great choices. Both feature a 2ms response times, which shouldn't bring any ghosting to fast moving images.

Unfortunately, I have not used the 1942, although, it's getting some great reviews. I have tested the W1952TQ. For starters, it is an amazing monitor for the price! Also, it was ready to go out of the box, no messing around with the settings.

Are you a big LG fan, or did you just stumble upon those 2 brands? Check out some of the BenQ or NEC.

Hmm I dont really wanna spend over $250.

I currently only have a 8600 gts but I dont really want to go larger than a 19 inch.

The only reason I picked the LG on the 1942 is becuase it was the only 2ms standard 19 inch on newegg lol. And the LG widescreen still looked the best in the widescreen 19 2ms range.

I have a friend who bought the 1952 and said that it was terrible in respect to ghosting. He returned it and got the 1942 and is very happy with it. I work at Best Buy and one of our top sellers is the LG 22ing LG227WTG which is a really great gaming monitor with wide gamut and glossy screen. As I understand it LG's 1942 is essentially a non glossy miniaturized version of the L227WTG. Also have you considered Acer? They make a monitor that is on NewEgg called the X193 I believe. It is really stunning. It has a 1680x1050 resolution which is really high for a 19" and it also supports 16.7 million colors. On top of that its only $140. If you do a sort on NewEgg with those specs it should be the only one that comes up. Lastly I do not recommend ordering a monitor from NewEgg as their return/exchange policy sucks when it comes to monitors because they want like 3 or 5 dead pixels before they approve RMA I believe.

ive been looking into the LG227WTG, looks pretty good.

i got one question. i kno playing at the bigger resolution will make it harder on my video card making me have less fps but what if i played on a 4:3 resolution with the screen sides blacked out with that feature it has. would i run the same as if i was running that resolution on my crt?

I ordered a new LG Flatron (I think the 1942). Nice looking monitor. Got a good deal at Buy.com. Clearly a TN panel. Fast fast fast. No discernible lag or ghosting. However, there were some problems with it and I sent it back.
1) The bezel was cracked (minor issue).
2) The base is enormous, and the finish on the exterior seems very cheap.
3) I use my panels in portrait mode frequently and the horizontal viewable range on this panel was terrible. Typical of TN panels.

Now I'm stuck. I still need a 19" 4:3 or 5:4 panel that can swivel to portrait mode, renders colors well, has good contrast, and has minimal input lag/response time (cumulative <15 ms). I'd like to stay under $500. Any ideas? I've been researching this for 2-3 weeks and I'm stumped.

I'm replacing a Dell 2001fp that has served me well.

Any useful ideas appreciated.

Mosh
