So, I am looking for a CPU for the 1155 socket that can run GTA Online at 60 fps. Currently I am running an i5 2500 and the game runs at 40-45 in the city and stable 60 anywhere outside. Basically i want to ask if any of you folks know if something like i7 2600/2700 or i5/i7 from 3rd gen can get me those extra 15 frames. I am mostly looking for people that had experience with those CPUs. Bare in mind my question is about GTAO in Story Mode the i5 2500 gives 70-80fps during benchmark and even in most populated city areas doesn't drop below 60. My gpu is a gtx 1060 at a 1080p monitor which should have no problem rendering those 60 frames. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Honestly, your looking at CPUs that are nearly a decade old. Best CPU you could get for that platform is an i7 3770k.
I can't really justify moving to a newer platform especially one with ddr4 ram. For once I'd need to change my ddr3 to ddr4 which costs money just to top it off. Next up, the best second hand cpu you listed i7 3770k is listed for 50$ average when I sell my i5 2500 for 25$ that's a 25$ upgrade worth total. Any new ryzen be it 3 or 5 from first generation as well costs at least 110$ in my country and second hand market for those CPU is so weak it's literally like 5-10$ less. Then we add the cost for the mobo which is a cost all in on itself and from my 1155 mobo I'd get at most 20$ when a new am4 cheapest is 60$. When you add all that I'd have to spend upwards of 120$ and a lot of work and hustle for a performance that compared to the i7 3770k is lacking by a lot especially in games. Not to mention my only needs that are left not satisfied by the i5 2500 is the 10-15 fps in gta online(not Story.) And again that's if I go with the lowest of the lowest grade and performance parts. And everything goes up incredibly from there. Those 120$ might not sound like a lot but for a close to downgrade just to get a little future proof when you don't need it at all seems unjustified.
