Good Budget Laptop

Hey guys my friend wants to buy a 'good' budget laptop under £500. I myself wouldn't know I've got a desktop that costs a little more.
He wants it to be fast and to handle many programs in the background.

just a good laptop around £300-500

The key to "fast" on a laptop is the use of a ssd for windows.
The key to handling many concurrent aps is a large amount of storage. 8-16gb.
The cpu is of lesser importance for most desktop usage.

For a budget constrained laptop, find one with minimal hard drive, and the os you prefer.
Plan on replacing the hard drive with a ssd and upgrading the ram.

My go to source has been Lenovo outlet.
The Thinkpad line will have the best keyboards.
Or... look on ebay for last year's versions.
