Hi community,
Sorry for all the questions (it's my first pc build), but I'm looking for a decent budget PSU. My pc will be housing:
Sapphire R9 380X Nitro
Intel i3 6100
1x8gb DDR4 at 2133 mHZ
Any suggestions for a decent PSU under $85 would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Izaak

Your RM 550 Is just a average PSU made by CWT a tier 3 power supply and would be on par with the CX 550m and not all the EVGA series are...
so pcpart reports
Note: Wattages are estimates only. Actual power draw may differ from listed values.
Component : Estimated Wattage
Intel Core i3-6100 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor 6W - 51W
Kingston HyperX Fury Blue 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory 9W - 9W
Sapphire Radeon R9 380X 4GB NITRO Video Card 47W - 190W
Total: 62W - 250W

so 450w would be a good cover as this munber runs up to 340w when you add motherboard ram and hdd as seen below:

Intel Core i3-6100 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor 6W - 51W
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler 5W - 10W
Asus B150M-A D3 Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard 15W - 60W
Kingston HyperX Fury Blue 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory 9W - 9W
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive 4W - 20W
Sapphire Radeon R9 380X 4GB NITRO Video Card 47W - 190W
Total: 86W - 340W

so 450w would be good... I suggest;

SeaSonic SSP-450RT 450 Watts 80+ Gold 60$

Thats not one of their very good power supplies and is out of stock. Only a 3 year warranty on that model.

Are either of these two good? And if so, which one is better? The more expensive one has less watts, so I can only assume it would a better quality PSU, but I know nothing about power supplies.

According to the tier list, the CX550M is a tier four PSU, so that won't be what I go with.

The tier list has not been updated since the CX 550m has been released.

Normally, I wouldn't trust someone with the Apple logo as their profile pic, but I've heard a lot of good stuff about EVGA PSUs.
For $80 you can just not bother with the pain-in-the-ass rebate if you buy from Newegg btw.

P.S. In regards to your setup, it's usually better to do (for 8GB RAM) 2 4GB chips in a dual channel layout, it gives you a bit better performance and reduces individual wear on the chips.

For the memory most people will buy a single 8GB stick to leave room for future upgrade when the board only has 2 memory slots.
You also need to take into account where he is buying parts from.
