Hello folks,
I'm looking for a budget PC build supporting dual CPUs, inspired by a Techspot article.
It'll be mostly video encoding with x265 with Handbrake, (to rip and compress a bunch of good old TV shows and old movies that we collected for 3 decades at least). it takes a lot of CPU power and my AMD Pilediver pc won't cut it.
Right now I've locked down using a pair of either Xeon E5645, E5649 or X5650. I'm looking to maximize CPU cores and Frequency isn't too much a factor.
THe tricky part will be the other components.
I have an Intel MB in mind: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Intel-S5520HC-Server-Board-Motherboard-LGA1366-Intel-5520-Chipset-w-Warranty/172176476752?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140620091118%26meid%3D08b34d07584645bc9b25a1949974361d%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D201640496206
Problem would be:
1. How to choose Heatsinks? Do consumer HS that is LGA 1366 compatible like Cooler Master EVO 212 or Nochua will cut it, or I need special server heatsinks?
2. Will an ATX case compatible
And 3. How to choose PSU that supports 2 CPUs.
HDD and RAM isn't an issue. The MB has onboard GPU for display.
Any good suggestions on components are greatly welcome!
Thanks for your help!
