Well, I shouldn't worry about it because:
1. You can have all the chapter 2 henchmen in chapter 3 AND you can manage
them in the same way as before - i.e. you can tell them to leave your
service at any time and re-engage them at any time. So you can open up a
slot just by telling Deekin (or whoever) you don't want his services any
more. He gets upset but if you can bear the guilt, just tell him to leave
you. Oh - the one exception to this is if you betray the Seer and her
followers in the battle at the end of chapter 2 - if you do that, the old
hench people don't want to know you. But you're not playing an evil
character, are you?
2. There's only ONE new henchperson in chapter 3 and you can engage her
services in just the same way.
Anyway, when you first get to chapter 3, you are on your own - no henchmen
at all - you have to re-engage their services once you've started the level
(you have to get the Reaper to recall them) - or you can do without (it's
not too dangerous TO START WITH). You can recall the henchpeople at any
point as far as I could tell though once you're past a certain point in the
level, you can't get back to the Reaper without going forward to the end.
Best wishes
