Good controller for Unreal

I am looking for a good controller for Unreal. Not something to replace my
mouse, however something to stream line most of the bindings to something
other then the keyboard. I tried the ZBoard, it did all that it was billed
to do. However, the keyboard layout was too different with the "Gaming
Keyset" to effectively chat in game (this is not a RTS). And the "Standard
Keyset," is also a bit off, causing some bad typing habits for someone who
uses computers away from home. Any advice would be great. Also, has anyone
tried to use flight sticks?

Have you looked at or considered the Belkin Nostromo?

Not to be a downer, however I am looking for something slightly more
conventional.
Thanks, this is a very interesting concept. But, I am not sure I could
devote enough time to adopt to a device such as this.

The entire concept will have to be abandoned. (The only guy who understood

Professional FPS gamers use keyboard and mouse. If it is good enough
for them, it should be for you.

Some people can be restricted by habit. I am trying not to be. Some oil
painters think that computer graphics are not art, while others claim it is
the same form on a different medium.

BTW, I have been playing PC games since the Tandy Color Computer 2.

Well give it a few hundred years and if there is one of today's CG
artists who is as well known as Leonardo I will concede the point.
People these days just want quick fix art and wouldn't have the
patience let alone talent to do what the old masters went through.

What, having lackeys do paintings for them? :-/

I have taken a look at the n50 at CompUSA and online, I was turned off by
the shortage of buttons. Searching again, I just came across the n52, which
looks much more promising. Thanks, next time I am out I will be sure to
take a look.

I ordered it lastnight online. CompUSA had it for 39.99, however Amazon was
selling it for 26, w/no shipping. You better be right about this.....I know
where you live.

Well of course I'm right, it's a controller with a bunch of buttons,
which is all I claimed :) What I didn't claim, but is true, is that I
like the N52 and find it helpful, despite the fact that it's too large
for me to use anything but the main keypad buttons.

If you're unhappy with it, well, you don't really know where I live, but
if you did, you could bring me your (now) spare N52, so I could have a
spare :)

I only know one other person who has used a Nostromo, but he has the
earlier N50. He doesn't like it, but he's a Maccie and uses a single
button mouse, so what would he know about advanced controllers? :)
Sorry M, if you're reading this!

I would bring to you, however that is why God invented return policies.

BTW, I do know where you live. Next to the guy who does that thing.
Scared, huh?

Well I figure that since you're dissatisfied with the keyboard, perhaps
you'll like this dedicated arrangement.

But I don't live next to that guy any more, it just got too loud, you
know?
