It seem to be a good deal , however you dont really need 16GB for gaming. just get a 8GB ( 2x4GB, 1600Mhz minimum) and be happy with it.
Still, if you have some extra bucks to spent you may wanna grab it.
Again to mention 16GB for gaming nah not at all. For intensive stuff like rendering / video editing or some GFX stuff you may need it. But 8 GB still be fine for gaming + casual video editing.

SSD go for Samsung 840 PRO great for price.

If you want 16GB of ram , 2TB of storage and a 250GB ssd you will have to sacrifice the 780 for a 770 . They're both good , but the 780 would've been better for 4K

The CPU , GPU , RAM , SSD and HDD can be upgraded later without any problem
Personally i would go with a Zalman Z11 + case , it looks nice and is cheaper
And you don't need thermal paste , as the stock intel cooler comes with the thermal paste pre-applied and the hyper 212 evo comes with a tube of thermal paste
If you're not gonna overclock you can save some money by getting the 4670 and removing the aftermarket cpu cooler
Or you can also get the Corsair 650D case , which is really easy to install your mobo in , ssd , hdd , etc... but it is a bit more expensive ( about 150$ )
+ NeweggTV made a 3 part tutorial on how to build a PC with the exact same case , so you shouldn't have too much trouble
Also , do you need a monitor/keyboard/mice ?

-I'll take your word regarding the Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 - 620W. My concern now is if getting a full modular power supply is better for me? Also, do you think I'll be making a mistake not getting a higher wattage power supply in case I decide to go SLI one day. Then again, I've never done so before and am not a uber-hardcore gamer.

-If I get the GTX 770 I'll definitely be getting the 4gb version. Any particular reason why you prefer MSI?

-I'm really surprised you're hinting that a 770 may have trouble with 4k. I'm only concerned about movie watching through it at that resolution - not games. Still 780?

-I prefer MSI due to some already overclocked products ,which means way more performance in gaming
-If it's only for movie watching , i don't think you'll actually have any problem with the 770 - I thought you wanted to be gaming in 4K . And you're right , you better get the 4GB one , the gpu will be more efficient with this amount of vram . You can go for a 780 if you really want to , but a 770 will be enough for your requirements and play the latest games at high or ultra
-I have no experience with the Fractal , so i can't say that it would be easier or harder - You can go on youtube and see some builds with it , and make your choice . Though it does seem like you're not gonna have too much difficulties with it
-You can go with that build , but again , you can go with a 770 and save some money if you're just gonna watch movies .

And i also understand why you need 2TB of storage . It's because you'll be storing alot of photos , movies , and the games can take up to 28GB now

Yup, you nailed it with the space requirements. I also take raw photos with my DSLR for adobe lightroom editing and they take a ton of space + lightroom takes forever with them when using my current old setup.

Hmm, so now I need sit down and think about this - GTX 770 4gb or GTX 780 3gb...

With the current promotions, I'm looking at an $80 difference. Is it really worth it to be overly future proof if I haven't played a truly resource intensive game in a long time and only want 4K for movie watching.

On the flipside, what if a ground breaking new game comes out and I can't run it on max settings...

I'd say keep the samsung EVO 840 250GB because it's a high quality SSD , and the optical drive doesn't matter that much , you can choose any dvd drive you want .
Even a GTX 760 plays BF4 on ultra and the gpu isn't using all his processors , it only uses about 80% i think , i can't remember , so the 770 will give a much better performance than the 760 and definetly would be future proof , and the 780 is for 4K gaming , for games like Watch Dogs , it will be able to run in 4K res.
As long as the game isn't running in 4K res. you will definetly be able to max out the settings , and will never go under 30FPS

I mean I only have time to play Diablo 3 right now...

And if down the road I decide to pick up a resource heavy game it sounds like the 770 4gb will still manage on the highest settings.

When I built my last computer ages ago, I bought one of the latest and greatest gpu's - 8800 gts 640mb if you guys remember. It was certainly nice being able to do max settings for a couple years with it. Now it can't even handle Diablo 3...

Do I need anything else for the installation? Like extra SATA cables?

Also, down the road I may be getting a new 24+" monitor. What brands/specs should I be looking at or avoiding?

You REALLY should avoid Coolmax , their PSU's are cheap , but complete POS , other then that i guess every other brands are pretty good .
I don't think you need extra SATA cables .
Anyway the rig you choosed is good , you will be able to play diablo 3 and the upcoming games at high/ultra without any problem .

Well btter would be cancel the SSD and get a Graphic card. Because Graphic card is what going to get you more performance than a SSD.

Nah I really want an SSD , and the 760 is good enough for me .

Also, what are the best guides out there for installation? I'm especially worried I'll miss something with the mobo installation/configuration and not properly utilize the SSD.

Hehe , it's about 1150$ on pcpartpicker , i can only buy these parts from amazon.fr .

It will , but the mobo will not support the Xeon's if you ever decide to get one . You could easily upgrade to a 4770K though , that's not going to be a problem , so yeah i guess it is a good future proof choice for you and your friend , but make sure that he gets a B75 mobo if he's gonna get a 4670 ( non K ) , because the non k series can not be overclocked .

You don't need to watch the first part because he's not building anything , he's just telling you how to choose your parts , but you already choosed them , and are all compatible .

Make sure that you keep your mobo's guide , you WILL need it later while installing the case's cables .

Everything you should be worried about is to touch the pins under the CPU , with some attention , you'll manage to put it correctly in place , without touching any pin .

Also , if you're going to go with the i5-4670 , you can remove the cpu cooler , as it's there only if you're gonna overclock , because the stock cooler isn't good for overclocking
