Hello guys,

I saw a good deal at the local store (at least i think) and i wanted more peoples oppinions on this purchase.
Luck would struck me has i find a GTX 460 going for £20... Working order... I quickly brought without hesitations after doing some quick benchmarks however, would you say that the GTX 460 is still a good card for todays gaming (I currently play at 1440x900/ 1280x800/720) will this run most of the latest games at high settings (with some maybe dropped to medium such as AA) at these resolutions.
For those interested the extra computer parts include:
AMD fx 4300
8GB 1600Mhz Ram by Hyperfury (single stick)
600watt EVGA Powersupply 80+ Bronze certified
ASROCK 960GM/U3S3

What do you guys think GTX 460 for £20 good deal? Or bad deal?

If you have any charts or benchmarking videos for any of these games let me know:
GTA V
GTA 4 (I liked the story, i know i am a horrible person for saying that)
DayZ standalone
Arma 3
Arma 2 OA
World of warcraft
League of legends
Mortal kombat X
Heroes of the Storm
Diablo 3

I'm not an expert but I'm running with a 570Ti and i cant run games like GTA V at full and I can only dream of running Arma 3 at decent FPS. And for games like LoL preety much any pc can run it on high. But i'd honestly get something higher if you wanna play at such high resolution. Reccomendation is 750 Ti or the not so expensive gtx970. Hope that helps.

GTX 460 was and still is a decent card. It's a good deal to get one for £20 so nice find but when it comes to longevity, I'm not sure it will last long. Driver updates will stop for this card sooner or later and as the new games get more and more demanding, the less settings you will have to drop to achieve a decent FPS. It's good for the time being but should be thought about upgrading in about a years time.

Yeah the plan right now is to use this has a Bumper purchase, at £20 it will play every game i want (i done some youtube video hunting with GTX 460 being featured). Once i got my rig started up I am sort of buying it part by part upgrades will be made.
But yes once i got this, i immediatly plan to start saving for something close to a GTX 950 or 960 and then upgrade the cpu to a FX 8XXX series CPU to reduce any bottle necking.

That's a great way to get into gaming, I did the same, started with an r9 260 and then upgraded to a 970 when I had the spare cash. The FX series of CPU's are great for there price and a GTX960 will run most game on mostly high settings at 1080p

Atsuma btw the GTX 460 paired with a fx 6100 can run Arma 3 at highsettings (albiet 30fps) at 1080p so... Maybe check what your cpu is for that game its mostly cpu intensive. Heres video proof https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K30IYcH_3kk I know its in Russian but if you go to Information he has this to say: The video demonstrates the GTX 460 video cards on high settings , in a game like ARMA 3 .

Not saying that i would want to play at High settings 30fps but i am sure i could get the resolution down to 1280x800 and have a comfortable Medium to high settings and still get a good 45+ FPS

Your system more than capable enough at demanding games and like I said higher frame rate 1080p is where you may see a bottleneck but the CPU is fine. 4 cores is a good amount of cores for gaming.

I guess the FX 4300 is a bit behind and old, but i am sure its not to much of a bottleneck. and yes since i am running at 1440x900/1280x800 I am pretty sure the bottleneck will be kept to a minimum i do plan on upgrading my monitor at some date so i will make sure to purchase a better cpu first and a updated card such has the GTX 960
