Parts:
1. GPU - Palit GTX 1050 Storm X 2GB GDDR5 128B
2. CPU - Core i5-7400 3GHz 6M Kabylake
3. Motherboard - MSI B250 Gaming PRO
4. Power supply - Corsair VS650 650W 80+ PSU
5. RAM - 8GB DDR4 2400 MHz Corsair Vengeance (Only one)
6. SSD - Samsung SSD 500GB 850 EVO 2.5 SATA 6

Is it okay if I only have one RAM stick? Also, do I need an HDD?

Solution
The EVO 850 will suffice as a storage drive, but IMO on a low budget build it's unwise to blow over $130 on a drive that only has 500GB space when you could instead get something like a WD Blue 1TB 7200 for $45 and spend the $90 or so saved on a better GPU. It would literally afford you a GPU twice as powerful.

For that matter, the PSU is way more wattage than even a 1060 needs, and another component where money can be saved. The same model in 550w, easily enough to run anything up to a 1080, is just $20 at Newegg on MIR thru 9/31.

That PSU change would net you $30, which applied to the $72 or so the one Vengeance module would cost, would cover all but $18 of this 2x8GB kit of Patriot Viper Elite. This sale ends in 6 hrs though.

I know it will be sufficient, but a VS series is not something we want to recommend do we. It is a poor quality unit, regardless.

Significant difference in cpu power, moving from a quad core and limited lifespan to a 6 core that won't suffer in harder hitting games, double the ram, triple the available storage space with no loss to windows workings or more important stuff, better gpu, better psu. For extra $20.

Yet how is he supposed to afford a better PSU with a dual channel RAM kit and better GPU? I know there's a lot of smack talked about lower tier PSUs, but let's not go making assumptions that it means they're all going to self destruct. Corsair puts a 3 yr on it and there's enough feedback from customers to indicate it's not total garbage like many assume all white Tier PSUs are.

It would help if he showed what price he's seeing the parts mentioned, and what his budget is, but until then I'll have to assume he can't afford anything more than best price on the parts shown.

And yet I just built a pc in the post above, with dual channel ram at double the capacity, better psu, better cpu, better gpu, more storage total.

I agree that location can be a huge factor, being especially that Op chose a VS, Palit gpu and kabylake setup, I'd say it looks like indo-asian market where prices on the better grade/newer equipment are stupid high. But in the US, Canada or Europe markets, there are better options available for more bang for the buck.

LOL, well, anyone can post a build list with better parts, but it's kinda moot when we don't know his location, budget, or the prices he's seeing on the parts he listed. That's why I didn't bother taking time to post a build list.

FAR too many members here don't seem to know how to ask for build/upgrade advice, despite there being a sticky on it. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2946386/build-upgrade-advice.html
