It's that time of year. Decided my computer is outdated for most of todays hot games (ie: Oblivion, FEAR, Farcry, etc)
Currently I have a Celeron D 2.66ghz, 60 ghz hd, 6600gt AGP, asus p4pe2-x, etc.. You get the point.

Was wondering if this rig would be good enough to play Oblivion at almost max settings if not max?

I'm open to suggestions, I wanna stay within the 1300-1650 budget so... The only thing I'm a bit worried about is the PSU, is it enough watts for the rig? thx

Wrong thread, post in Graphics or Homebuilt. There are already threads about Oblivion, and no, it doesn't take insane graphics to run it so don't worry.

It's very good but I recommend a 10,000 RPM 150GB Raptor because they run blazingly fast  Everything else looks fine but later, you might want to raise to 2GB and a 500W+ power supply because all your other stuff are killer but 1GB is kinda beginner. But those system specs are enough to run at max settings with amazing graphics. You do not NEED 2GB but I think you should get it for other stuff than gaming such as browsing, multi-tasking side-to-side with your dual-core processor not to mention newer games will need 2GB (I think) and already BF2 requires 2GB to run at HIGHEST settings. (which you will want to do later)

looks good. i have a x-2 3800, 2 gb ram, and a x1800xl and it runs beautifully at 1280 x 708 with HDR and all the good bits on. i think you are good to go with that system! :D

The bit I like best is the CRT monitor, they are imho still far superior than all but the most stupidly priced LCDs for games and films :)

lets see the TFT fanboys run games on a 21" screen in 2048x1536 for under £500 :)

Oh, and even if they manage that I'll then be able to run in 1600x1200 for games that dont support 2048x1536 without horrid scaling, and if I buy a cheap CRT I wont be stuck with horrid 'lets make both numbers over 1000' non-4:3 resolutions like 1280x1024

</rant> sorry :D
