Good free memory tester

Hey there, building a PC for the first time. Are there any good programs that'll let me test and make sure my memory is working properly, but that's also free? I've seen this program be brought up: http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm
...but I really don't feel like paying $40-$50 for something like this, especially after all the money I dropped on parts to build my PC. But I also want to make sure I'm using something reputable. Anyone got any good recommendations?

you can use aida64. It's free for like 30 days, and then it makes you buy it. But 30 days should be plenty.

If you scroll down a short way on your link you can download memtest86 free version... I've used the free version in the past and recommend it.

It will tell you if its running up to par and if its not, it will even tell you if its not in dual channel or XMP is off... (It does the same with all your components)...

Yeah, of course I did see the free version on that page, but I was worried that it might be different, or not as good as the purchased version. It's good to know it still works totally fine. I think I'll download the free memtest and use that, and then use the benchmark Dooop linked after I have Windows installed just to doublecheck the memory and other stuff. Thanks guys!!

So, just to be sure: I'm going to create a bootable USB with memtest. Should I just save the ZIP archive and then put it right on to the USB, or do I need to unzip the contents on to the USB, or something else?

memtest has always been and will always be the best way to test your ram, its been about since the stone ages.

Download it from here: http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm

extract the zip to your desktop and follow the instructions (ReadMe_imageUSB.txt file) to create a bootable USB stick.
