Hi Folks i am looking to replace my Cooler Master HAF 932 full tower case due to some reasons which i will mention below and i am looking for suggestions for best case which satisfy my following needs:

1. Must be a full tower, not looking for super tower or smaller cases.

2. Must support atleast 8 drives out of the box without having to use any conversion cards. This is the top most reason i am replacing my case, it has only 5 drive bays for 3.5" drives and none for 2.5" at all, i currently have 7 drives installed in my pc, 6 HDD's (mechanical) & 1 SSD and i am using caddies for 2 drives. The case i am looking for must have support for installing 7 3.5" hdd drives & 1 2.5" ssd drive. More are better. Any case failing this requirement is automatically out of consideration for me.

3. This one's no brainer but hey my current 10 yro case doesn't have this so worth mentioning, it must have usb 3.0 ports in front IO panel. Doesn't matter how many as long as it has 1 usb 3.0 port then i am good.

4. Aesthetics have absolutely 0 priority for me so cases which uses lots of glass for eye candy isn't appreciated. I want a case which has best possible air flow and lots of pre-installed fans. A big fan on left side instead of glass would definitely get a priority.

5. In my 20 years of working with pc's i have never ever installed hydro cooler in any of my pc and i never will so cases which are designed specifically for water cooling are not needed. More space for fans or more space in general for cable routing is preferred.

6. Finally, i have a fairly good budget for this case but it shouldn't be super expensive. $250 or less is fine, over $300 is not. On the other hand i am also not looking to buy anything super cheap with low build quality.

I really liked this case thermaltake Urban T81, it fit my needs perfectly but it has that stupid glass side panel instead of huge 220mm fan or something, if it had fan i would have simply ordered it instead of posting this huge topic. I wonder why on earth companies prefer putting huge glass on side panels instead of good airflow options, i am finding lot of it. I prefer watching my beautiful girlfriend then looking fancy led lights coming out from my casing......

Is intake fans on side panels no longer a thing? I notice 2-3 C temp difference with side fan running or not.
Almost every good case i find either has glass panel or full metal without any option to mount fan......

This still looks perfect and i would have bought it in a heartbeat if it had more bays for HDDs. I dunno which idiot made it have 5 5.25" drive bays instead of more space for hdd or ssd.

To mount the HDD's you use a screw with rubber grommet then slid the drive into the cage. and really how often are you pulling drives in and out. If its a lot then get a hotswap bay.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hd6OBKVodP8 watch from min 9 to 11 for all the tool less features on the dvd drive and HDD rack

How much air flow do you need, 3 120mm in front, 2 120mm on top, 2 120mm on side panel, and 1 120mm on the back.

Actually a lot, i swap the drives a lot. I upgrade my drives rather frequently and in total i have 11 drives but my Mobo only have 8 ports. Some of my drives are used with external enclosure but i do swap them with internal when doing large data backups.

Lian li honestly has one of the easiest HDD cages to use, once you put the screws in the side of the drive its just sliding it into the cage. It also mounts them on rubber grommets so it helps with vibrations from the drives.

I use to only buy Lian li cases just for this reason, my last case was a corsair carbide 200R with all 5 drives mounted in the 5.25" optical cage. I would say if you had the money and could find one get the XSPC H2 case, that is another amazing case with tons of room. My last build was in that case and it actually looked like I had a ITX board installed there is so much room.

The front side vents by the door will get very dusty and clog a lot. My home computer is the corsair carbide 200r and it basically has the same design and im always having to clean them for better air flow.

It also doesn't look like it has any fans in the top, just uses the properties of heat rising and any positive pressure inside the case to force air out the top side vents.

Getting dirty is not an issue with me because i have a habbit (good or bad?) of opening both side panels of my chassis and using blower to clean it atleast twice a month. As soon as i see some dirt starting to settle in tiny holes of casing its cleaning time.

Not having any place to mount top exhaust fan though is definitely an issue and deal breaker. IMO top fan is the most important fan location because its directly on top of CPU cooler and we all know hot air rises up. And since i don't use liquid cooling its a no go, too bad as otherwise the case looked really good.

Hehe check my original post, last para. This is the first casing that i am considering. Yeah i am pretty sure i will go with that.
2 Front intake fans with 2 exhaust fans, one at rear and one at top rear seems ok. Its missing the side panel intake fan that my current case has but i guess that's the sacrifice i have to make.

I have pretty much made up my mind of getting Thermaltake Urban T1, i won't be ordering it before atleast a week from now but its highly unlikely i would decide on something else.
So yeah basically casing decided, thread closed.
