Hello,

I am a newbie when it comes to computers. Below is a computer that I was wondering if it would be worth it to buy to play some old and perhaps new games (i.e. Starcraft 2 trilogy, Diablo III, etc.). It has a NVIDIA GeForce GT 720 1GB DDR3 card so I am not sure. Please feel free to offer your thoughts that may help me with this dilemma. I was hoping to keep my costs for everything with a new system under $1K... if Windows 7 was on it that would be great, if not oh well. Thanks for your help and have a great day!

Never built one before, but may be open if I can get a good system that would last a while and would be able to handle some new games.. Thanks!!

$700 could buy a far more powerful system, pre builts are a complete rip off imo

If you are willing to learn, have 1-2 weeks to spend on the forum, you can built it yourself. Very recommended is to have a friend with some experience in PC building also. I've built mine this way and it is really cheaper.
But if you buy a pre-built config, you save time, you have easy maintenance in case of trouble, you have better warranty, all the parts are tested for compatibility.
True, there is probably ~20% overhead on the price, but system assemblers also have children and bills to pay.
If this is a ripoff - everyone has an opinion.

Thanks for the quick advice everyone. I would be open to building one myself since it seems I can get a longer lasting and better computer for the same price. Sounds like $700 could get me a descent conputer. If you have the time and can put together a parts list I am here to listen. Thanks!

One of the best parts in PC gaming is building the rig yourself, pre built just doesnt works. with 1K you can easly set up a PC with a Geforce 970, i5 4670K and 8 GB GDDR3 @1600Mhz and you will play whatever you want with the best quality on a 1080p display. the geforce 720 is garbage for gaming

Thanks for the help! I tried to replicate this via the US and came up with the following after some additions (OS, keyboard/mice, monitor, sound card, and wired network adapter).

What do you think? Everything compatible? I noticed the same note on the build - Some AMD 970 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vishera CPUs. Should I be worried about this?

With all the extras, do you think there is a way to get it closer to $700 - $800. I am okay with the pricing, but figured if I can still save some money for a good rig then I would be open to it. Thanks again!

Here's a similar one with some changes for $873 after discounts/rebates. It has the same note as the other one. Would this be compatible and last a while with running games with higher settings?

Thanks for all your help and advice!!
