Will this pc http://nz.pcpartpicker.com/p/3Pv6mG run any game at max settings in 1440p at 60fps+ i have chosen 2 gtx 980s in sli or should i get 2 gtx 970s in sli will it get close to the same preformance if i overclock with 2 970s

Yeah I would hope so, even two GTX 970s would be good enough.

should i get the strix version of the 970 or the evga superclocked acx 2.0

Looks good.

Get a 4 x 4gb or 2 x 8gb kit of ram instead though.

970's are better bang for buck than 980's

for 1080p, all you need is one 970. With a 980 or 2 x 970's, I'd go for 1440p.

I think ima go with the 970s cuz i can probbaly overclock to the same preformance as 980s and becasue they knock $800 of the price
