You been answering my threads for a while now. I cant make up my mind whether to go for the i5 or wait for amd bulldozer to come out.
I've been hearing a lot about it, and that makes me think if I should save up and go for the BullDozer once it comes out.

Get from a local reputed store than itdepot. They don't sell products for reasonable prices. Also, those parts in India will cost almost $100 more total. I'm from India and a Corsair CX430 costs 2350rs, Seasonic 520W PSU Costs 3600rs. Insane prices!

Don't know about Mumbai, I live in Kolkata. Visit a few stores and see who demands the lest money, get the parts from there. Who'll assemble those BTW? Don't give your valuable PC parts to a store technician for assembling, they screwed my earlier MoBo (got shorted), I got a replacement from Intel. I was lucky, lol.

I know a technician.(assembled my earlier PC)
So no prob about that.
Getting parts is the harder job, since we dont have newegg or tigerdirect.
I'll check around in Lamington Road, maybe they'll have good prices.

I'd recommend two RAM chips as they'll work in Dual Channel mode and give better performance. Any reason to go for that Asus board? Thats just costlier with no PCIe 3.0.

BTW, Why did you get a H67 board with an i7 2600K for yourself? You can't overclock it.

No problem i like to help out where i can

The i5 is a solid choice for a processor. Is great value for money and has so much overclocking potential. Mostly games untill recently have been heavily reliant on GPU (many still are) but some new games, Deus Ex for example, CPU has had a huge influence on the FPS during gameplay. Since AMD BullDozer hasn't really been tested by any "gamers" or "enthusiasts" its really hard to tell which will be better in terms of price vs performace.

My best suggestion would probably be, if your not in a rush to buy, hold on for a few weeks and see what BullDozer can do when its properly released and more importantly see what sort of price its released at. If you feel like you cant wait that long, then theres no doubt the i5-2500k is an amazing processor and should perform well above your needs. (as stated above make sure you select a z68 or p67 motherboard with a 'K' series processor, otherwise overclocking is out of the question. PCI 3.0 support is recommended, however i believe there are a few issues with the BIOS and overclocking currently on the new ASRock GEN3 motherboards.

Yup that too. I think most people will find the i5 is still their best option if they are on a budget. Shouldn't have to wait too much longer to find out

Well, I got the H67 motherboard because I wanted to use the intel HD 3000 graphics. But I will soon get the asus p8z68-v pro motherboard.

In terms of price vs performance, yes probably.

But with BullDozer running 6 cores at 3.9GHz with 4.5GHz Turbo STOCK and Native support for 1866MHz ram......I think its clear BullDozer will out perform SandyBridge, the question is, at what cost..

AMDs 6 core processor was found even slower than first generation core i5s and in most cases slower than core 2 series.

Whatever price AMD keeps, it would be slower than intel.

Wait till Sept. 19th. Bulldozer will release after 9 days. Though, I doubt Sandy Bridge prices will affect because of that.
