Hi, I have a computer with a AMD Radeon (TM) graphic 0x1638 400MHz and it sometimes had a black screen. I was wondering if anyone could advise me on a good graphic card to replace it with please.
Thanks
Vickie

Full system specs, including PSU make and model (or part number) is? Also, how old the PSU is, and was the PSU bought new or used/refurbished?

AMD Radeon (TM) graphic 0x1638 400MHz
That's AMD Radeon Vega iGPU. Which one exactly, hard to tell.

Did find the "0x1638" to be part of R7 5800H, but that CPU is laptop CPU and if you do have laptop, your options regarding dedicated GPU are either very limited (eGPU) or none.
So, answer fully what i initially asked.

full specs of the system would help if unsure

hw monitor would help it will tell you all your components.

psu is very limiting as is the 5600g.
what is your total budget for a gpu

Corsair CXM 550 W
Mediocre quality PSU. Currently fine, since you only have iGPU as GPU, but for dedicated GPU, i'd look towards new, good quality PSU as well. Like Seasonic Focus, Corsair RMx/RMi, Super Flower Leadex Gold.
Wattage capacity depends on which GPU you plan to go for.

But if you keep your current PSU, then GPU with up to 150W TDP. E.g RTX 4060 or RX 6600. Both are also cheap GPUs.

ryzen 5 5600g has "vega 7 (5000 series)..
when you next boot into bios. go to grapics /display settings and set it to "igpu" for 1st boot .. if its set to "external/pcie.. if will sometimes not boot/pass post. you would have to reboot a few times for it to kick in.

you could also increase the amount of ram it uses. as it defaults to 1-2 gb.. , you should set it to 4gb for better performance..
