Hello! I'm curious as to what would be a good HDD for recording gameplay, I plan on recording with Dxtory. From what I understand, if I try to save the file to the same storage that the game is running on I will get horrible frame drops. I was thinking about getting a 2 TB storage (because the files can be very large) but I'm not sure what to get. I can never seem to find a HDD that doesn't have mixed opinions. I'm Looking to spend less than $100 if possible, but wont mind going up a little more for good options.

I was thinking of getting one of these two:

Seagate Barracuda
WD Black

Any help on my decision would be appreciated!

I can recommend the WD Black. It has 7200 RPM, and on board cache and is fast for a mechanical hard drive. Unfortunately, 2 TB is close to $200.

its $125 in the link I gave, but after reading a lot of reviews there is a noise complaint with almost every review. I use headphones majority of the time and wont be using this hard drive as the primary one, but if its loud enough to hear through headphones this might be an issue.

Most of these modern hard drives are quite quiet, and I doubt you would hear it through the headphones. The Seagate will not be any quieter. Just make sure to screw it in at several points into the cage. You can also dampen it with some felt or foam.

thank you for your answer! didn't think about muffling it if it got loud.
