I recently bought an Intel i7 7700k CPU and my Hyper 212 EVO cooler has become very loud. I was wondering what quiet and preferably air coolers would be best. I have a Corsair Spec 2 case and my budget is around $50. I have been looking at the Cryorig H7 but I don't know if that will suffice. Thanks.

The H7 is really one of the best coolers I know of unless you want to go for something expensive. I can't really compare, but it's really not that loud. Should definitely suffice. Love the H7, am using it right now.

I would do an H5 but it is too large to fit in my case

The NH-U12S is now on my list. Thanks for the suggestion! It hasn't popped up in my research before due to it being 1 mm bigger than the "max" CPU cooler height. Should still work fine though.

If the cooler is within 3mm of the maximum clearance that the case specifies, you're playing with fire. I didn't realize that the NH-U12S was that close.

The Thermalright TS120 (BW) Rev 2.0 competes with the Noctua below about 130 watts. For your computer, it's worth considering.

The other option worth looking at is the Thermalright Macho 120.

Of course the H7 is also a very good option.

Currently my Hyper 212 EVO is listed as 159mm tall so the Noctua should probably fit. I will consider the other choices as well.
