Hey guys, I'm just setting up my first home built gaming desktop, and trying to keep with my relatively small budget. To save money I'm not using an actual PC monitor, I'm going to use my bedroom TV. Since I don't really play MMO's or many games that require small text on the screen, 50" 1080p is good enough for me.

The problem is that I sit quite far from the screen obviously and it seems wireless keyboards don't work very well for gaming, shooters and simulators especially, which is what I mostly play. I am having trouble finding a gaming keyboard that has a long cord, I think I need 3+ metres in the cord. Could you guys help me out, I only have $200 left for, headset, mouse and keyboard. And since I'm in Australia where we get ripped off on everything, multiply the price by about 1.5x.

What about just trying a usb extension? This way you don't have to limit yourself to certain boards. How far are you from the couch to the tv?

UPDATE:
Found these 2 longer ones:

No, I don't work for newegg; just a big fan. I don't know if they ship to australia but this helps you start looking. Hope this helps open up your options! Have fun!

BTW:
I would buy this keyboard if I were searching today:

Gorgeousness! A bit putting you over your price range but nice to consider!

Thanks for the quick response, it's actually a bed so anywhere from 2-6m from the screen. I'll see how much I could get that keyboard in Aus, Newegg doesn't ship to Australia but I can get third party delivery by Bongo or someone else, but it's outrageously expensive, like $150 for a mid-tower. Thanks for the help these USB extensions are cheap too, do they increase lag at all?

BTW: That keyboard that's $150 over in the US is $200 here, these are the problems we Aussie gamers have to deal with...

I'd just read the reviews. Unfortunately the 25ft one doesn't have a review yet but it has a repeater chip which is usually a good improvement as it is designed by function to increase signal. I don't want to guarantee no lag but theoretically it should be ok. Alternatively the shorter cable you can live with the less chance of signal degredation and less likely lag but again it comes down to the quality of a component. I don't forsee it being an issue at 6m but you never know! I'm no salesman so I don't like guaranteeing anything but from a physics stand point you should be ok!

Yikes, $200! Still she's probably worth it! ha!

Something I forgot to make clear about the k95 though is it has dual USB (one to power the board, the 2nd to connect to the cpu); so I want to make that clear about this board BEFORE you buy and make sure then to have an extension for both!

In case that is an issue for you here are some decent alternatives with just the 1 usb out:

These 2 above are membrane (not mechanical)

These 2 above are mechanical, one is blue switch type and the other is brown

For details about different mechanical switch type characteristics see here:

Sorry I didn't catch the dual usb potential issue earlier; it's so common among good gaming keyboards that I totally forgot!
