Hello, this is my first build, and I'm wondering what motherboard I should use for gaming:

This is in Canadian dollars BTW. Not much difference, but Canada doesn't have the same deals America does when it comes to combos, etc. Prices may be up a bit from the norm.

Case: NZXT Phantom 410 ATX Mid Tower $100

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0-4.4GHz $350 (I want the i7 for some video editing/rendering)

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus $35

Motherboard: HELP! I need something here and there are sooo many options. I'm willing to go with a slightly more expensive motherboard if it's significantly better.

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory $170

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $85

HD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $60

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 OR 980 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card $390

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply $85

Sound Card: Asus Xonar DSX 24-bit 192 KHz Sound Card $50

Peripherals: 2 monitors at 1080p and 2k

If no budget restraints

Or if you're more budget oriented try this for all you need.

Also, like Blackbird said, the NEX B1, P1 & G1 series from EVGA is low quality. They're produced by HEC, as opposed to super flower

First suggestions.
PSU: Get a 750W one in case you want to SLI in the future.
SSD: The price of a 250gb version is worth jumping up.
CPU cooler: 212 plus is old. There is a EVO version, or look into a Noctua NH-U12S
GPU: A single 970 will smash all games at 1080p. And overclocks well. You could add second 970 in future for 1440p gaming.

Mobo: I would probably go Asus. What's the budget you are willing to spend on it?

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($76.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Motherboard: Asus Z97-PRO ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($194.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($148.98 @ DirectCanada)
Power Supply: XFX XTR 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($104.98 @ NCIX)
Total: $525.92
