Good monitor for gaming

Hi, I am seriously considering to buy Samsung SB970 monitor.

I want this monitor mainly for playing games, I dont play competitive games so response time is not a huge problem for

me. I have a fast enough computer to handle 1440p resolution.
My question is should i buy this monitor or there is something better on the market for about the same price ? thanks

That much money will buy you a 1600p IPS panel - keep looking around.

Dont spend so much on a monitor. Try the Asus PB278Q. It has the same specs as the Samsung but it is much cheaper. I think is $650 now.

Im not sure i want 16x10 monitor, never used it so i dont know how gaming feels like on 16x10.

DarjSabke isnt the samsung panel different from Asus PB278Q panel ? do they both use the same Backlight Technology (PLS) ?

Yes, both are PLS. Both are LED Backlit. Both have a 5ms response time. Both are 2560x1440.
